This palace is located in Solna, inside the National City Park close to the shore of Edsviken. Jacob de la Gardie led Swedish forces that took Moscow in 1610, and the palace was built for him as a reward for his services. However, some 60 years later in 1669 the palace was purchased by Queen Dowager, and given to her grandson as a gift in 1684. The changing history of the palace continued in 1821 when it was transformed into a hospital for invalids. As well as the palace museum, there is the Orangerie which is home to many examples of Swedish sculpture.
