The Rosendal Palace is the summer retreat of a former Swedish King – namely King Karl XIV Johan. The palace has an interesting design, and combines Imperial style with military paintings and decoration, symbolising the King’s past as a soldier. Although the inside of the palace can only be seen during short tours in the summer, they are definitely worth waiting for. Highlights include the large frieze depicting the Norse god Odin’s victory against frost giants and the ceiling painted with the story of Eros and Psyche.
