Located on the island of Djurgarden in Stockholm, the Skansen museum is a large open-air folk museum that was founded as long ago as 1891. As well as housing the Skansen zoo, there are also over 150 traditional buildings such as homes, shops and churches. The museum is like a miniature Sweden, with beautiful tree-lined paths and plenty of cafés and restaurants throughout. Originally conceived by Artur Hazelius, it is one of the most interesting and pleasant places to visit in the city of Stockholm.
