The Museum of Psychiatric History is housed in a building from about 1900 which was originally intended as a doctor’s home. The museum deals with the development of treatment for psychiatric disorders from the fourteenth century onwards. It examines the physical and theoretical aspects of treatments, and deals with social attitudes to madness. Guided tours can be given on request. The museum lies in the south of Uppsala, about four kilometres from the city centre. It is accessible by bus.
