The Ropemaking Museum at Älvängen was designated Industrial Monument of the Year in 1995 and in 1996 designated as a historic building. It is a living museum where you can see and hear the old machinery working and see every aspect of rope manufacture on the traditional rope walk. It is located about thirty five miles north of Gothenburg. There is a reception area, a restaurant and a museum shop here. Guided tours are available and large group visits are possible by arrangement.
