Lund Cathedral lies in the heart of the city. It was consecrated in 1145, although the building began in 1080. It attracts more than half a million visitors per year. The cathedral contains numerous treasures. These include three bronze pillars with mounted figures from 1240. The finely carved oak choir was created in the fourteenth century, as was the altar. The cathedral has a famous medieval astronomical clock and boasts the largest church organ in Sweden. Guided tours are available.
