Engelbrektskyrkan
Östermalmsgatan 20B, 114 Stockholm - Sweden

Map

Engelbrektskyrkan is very unusual church that makes a dramatic contribution to the landscape of Stockholm. It is also known locally as Bergskyrkan - the mountain church - since it appears to be almost an integral part of a rocky hill. The church is built in the Art Nouveau style, and was completed by Lars Israel Wahlman in 1914. The granite walls of the church are handcarved, and the interior is decorated in beautiful detail. The vault is the highest in Scandinavia. The church has a fine organ, and is often the venue for classical concerts.
