The Drottningholms Castle is a grand castle belonging to the Royal Family in Sweden. Combining a mixture of styles and influences, the front is modelled on the Palace of Versailles. This part of the building was designed by Tessin the Elder, the royal architect of the time. However, after his death his son Tessin the Younger took over, perhaps explaining the variety of styles throughout the building. Tessin the Younger added the Karl XI’s gallery. There have been further expansions, most notably in 1744 when Crown Prince Adolf married Lovisa Ulrika.
