This theatre is located at the Drottningholms Castle, and was built in the 18th century after being commissioned by Queen Lovisa Ulrika. It is the oldest working theatre in the world, and still has the original stage sets and hand-driven machinery. Although not used most of the year, there is a brilliant summer program every year. During this time, the theatre puts on all kinds of productions, including major concerts, operas and plays. Designed by Fredrik Adelcrantz, the theatre has had its excellent summer schedule in place since as early as 1922.
