This is the main library of Uppsala University and contains an extraordinary five million volumes and thousands of metres of manuscripts. The exhibition room shows various fascinating treasures including original manuscripts by Mozart, beautiful medieval illuminated manuscripts and the "Silver Bible" from the sixth century. The present building was erected in the early nineteenth century and is located in the heart of the city.
